HBO's Harry Potter Series Casts Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley
HBO has cast Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley, Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle, and Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey in the second season of its Harry Potter television adaptation, which is currently filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.
HBO has filled three more roles in its expanding Harry Potter television adaptation, casting Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley alongside newcomers Molly Hewitt-Richards and Jasper Ambrose as Moaning Myrtle and Colin Creevey, respectively. The trio will join the series for its second season, which is currently filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom.
Spall, who currently stars in the Apple TV series «Trying», brings a substantial filmography to the role of the Weasley family patriarch. His previous credits include «Life of Pi», «Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom», «Men in Black: International», and «Black Mirror». In the original Harry Potter films, Arthur Weasley was portrayed by Mark Williams.
Arthur Weasley is the good-natured head of the Weasley family and a recurring presence throughout the Harry Potter series from the second book onward. His fascination with Muggle objects becomes a key plot point when he provides the enchanted Ford Anglia that carries Harry and Ron to Hogwarts. Earlier this month, HBO revealed three other key roles for the second season: Tom Riddle, the young Lord Voldemort; Dobby the house-elf; and a new actress taking on the role of Ginny Weasley. «Game of Thrones» star Kit Harington will play Gilderoy Lockhart, stepping in after Tom Hoult departed the production due to a filming delay.
The second season is expected to adapt «Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets», the novel in which Arthur, Myrtle, and Colin all make their first appearances. The first season, which will cover «Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone», is scheduled to begin airing at Christmas this year. The now-filming second season is expected to follow in late 2027 or 2028.
