Robert Kelker-Kelly, the actor best known for playing Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives, died of arteriosclerotic heart disease, according to the St. Charles County medical examiner. The office ruled his death natural. Kelker-Kelly was 62.

Kelker-Kelly, who also worked as a professional pilot, had experienced chest and left arm pain shortly before his death, according to a St. Peters Police Department report. His wife, Allison Kelly, told police she picked him up from Spirit of St. Louis Airport at about 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 3. During the drive home, he complained of pain in his chest and left arm and asked her to pull over so he could vomit. When she asked whether he needed to go to the hospital, he declined and asked to be taken home so he could lie down.

After they arrived at their Missouri residence, Kelker-Kelly changed his clothes and got into bed. He continued to experience pain and asked his wife for an aspirin. When she returned from the kitchen, she found him unresponsive and not breathing. She immediately called 911 and began performing CPR, the report said. St. Peters police and the St. Charles County Ambulance District responded to the home shortly after 8 p.m. Paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but Kelker-Kelly was pronounced dead at 9:09 p.m.

Police told Fox News Digital at the time that investigators found no suspicious circumstances at the scene. « Mr. Kelly had reportedly complained of chest pain shortly before becoming unresponsive, and the circumstances appeared consistent with a medical event, » police said. According to the report, his wife told investigators he had no known medical conditions, was not taking prescription medication, and had not had any serious injuries or surgery in the previous year. The medical examiner's office released the case without requesting further investigation.

Born April 18, 1964, in Wichita, Kansas, Kelker-Kelly built a career playing characters on several of daytime television's best-known soap operas. He remained on the series until 1995 and won the 1994 Soap Opera Digest Award for outstanding lead actor.

After leaving Days of Our Lives, he joined the cast of ABC's General Hospital, playing Stavros Cassadine, a villainous member of the powerful Cassadine family, from 2001 to 2003. He reprised the role in 2013 and 2014.
