Caitlin Clark has been named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for June, the league announced Tuesday, marking the second time in her career she has received the honor. The Indiana Fever guard earned the award despite playing only 10 games during the month, a stretch that included a back injury that forced her to leave a game early. Clark also was named an All-Star starter for the third consecutive season just one day before the Player of the Month announcement.
Clark averaged 21.9 points, 8.2 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game in June while shooting 45.6% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range. She ranked fourth in the WNBA in scoring and second in assists during the month, helping the Fever post a 7-4 record and power the league's highest-scoring offense at 95.5 points per game. Her performances included a 32-point, 10-assist outing against the Chicago Sky on June 11, when she and teammate Aliyah Boston became the first pair of teammates in WNBA history to each record a 30-point double-double in the same game.
Five days later, Clark delivered 21 points and a season-high 14 assists in a win over the Toronto Tempo. From June 11 through June 22, she set a new WNBA record by recording at least 20 points and five assists in six consecutive games. It was the third time in her career she has achieved a streak of at least five straight games reaching those marks, a feat every other player in league history has combined to accomplish only three times. The streak ended when a back injury forced Clark to leave Indiana's June 24 game against the Phoenix Mercury in the third quarter, after she had already accumulated 19 points and eight assists. That game also featured a controversial play in which Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas made contact with Clark's neck, resulting in a flagrant foul.
Clark joins Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings as the only players in Indiana Fever history to receive the Player of the Month award, with Catchings winning it three times. Clark previously earned both Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month honors in August 2024. She continues to rewrite the WNBA record books as she enters July needing just nine assists to reach 600 for her career and only five three-pointers to become the fastest player in league history to make 200 career three-pointers.
The recognition comes amid a season in which Clark has often been in the headlines for reasons beyond her on-court performance, including media attention and fan reactions.
