Spider-Man: Brand New Day Hits Digital After Record $2.5 Billion Box Office Run
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now available to rent or buy on digital platforms after a historic theatrical run that grossed over $2.5 billion and set a new domestic box office record.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially swung onto digital storefronts, arriving on video-on-demand platforms after one of the most lucrative theatrical runs in cinema history. Fans can now rent the Marvel sequel for $24.99 or purchase it digitally for $29.99, with the purchase option including bonus features.
The digital release comes nearly 70 days after the film first hit theaters, marking one of the longest theatrical exclusivity windows of 2026. That extended stay on the big screen proved extraordinarily profitable. Brand New Day exploded out of the gate with a record-breaking opening weekend and went on to gross more than $2.5 billion worldwide.
Domestically, the film hauled in $951 million, a figure that solidified its place as the highest-grossing movie in United States history. On the global stage, it now trails only Avatar and Avengers: Endgame in the all-time rankings, though those standings could shift when the next Avengers installment, Doomsday, arrives in theaters.
Set in the current-day timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 6, Brand New Day picks up after the events of No Way Home, which ended with a major turning point for Tom Holland's Peter Parker. The sequel brings back Peter's close friends MJ, played by Zendaya, and Ned, played by Jacob Batalon, who have now graduated from high school. It also introduces new cast members, most notably Sadie Sink, whose role Marvel went to great lengths to keep under wraps until the film's theatrical debut.
Critics have responded warmly to the film's more grounded approach. In a review, Tom Jorgensen described Brand New Day as «a refreshingly small-scale ride» compared to some recent MCU projects, praising director Destin Daniel Cretton for refocusing «on the sturdiest pillars of the webslinger's iconography: struggling to find balance while swinging around New York City saving the day, and looking dang cool doing it.»
Despite the character's central role in the MCU, Tom Holland is one of the few major stars who has not yet been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday. That absence may not be permanent, however, as Marvel is reportedly developing an Avengers-style re-release of Brand New Day featuring extra footage.
A fifth Spider-Man film is already confirmed to be in the works, with an unsurprising director attached. What the project does not yet have is a release date, and Marvel's schedule is packed through at least 2029. In the meantime, audiences can look forward to Sadie Sink's return in a full X-Men reboot slated for 2028.
For those waiting to stream the film at no extra cost, recent Disney releases have typically arrived on Disney+ between three and four months after their theatrical debut. If Brand New Day follows that pattern, subscribers could see it on the service by late November.
Physical media collectors also have something to anticipate. A 4K Blu-ray release is on the way, complete with a steelbook edition, and a range of DVD options are now available for preorder with a release date of December 15, just in time for the holidays.
