The Pokémon Deluxe Character Book, currently available for $41.98 on Amazon — a 30 percent discount from its $59.99 list price — functions as an elaborate physical encyclopedia spanning from Bulbasaur to Pecharunt.
The book's construction carries a premium feel, with gold-lined pages that distinguish it from standard guidebooks. Its cover art features an array of Pokémon rendered in gold and silver line art, inviting readers to spot individual creatures within the collage. Full color is reserved for Pikachu, who also dominates the inner cover art and much of the book's interior.
A limited edition box set version, priced at $196, includes additional accessories for collectors seeking a more comprehensive package.

The book's approach emphasizes synthesis over invention. Dedicated Pokédex memorizers may find few surprises, but readers less familiar with the animated series or trading card game are likely to encounter new information. The most robust pages offer a comprehensive look at how individual Pokémon have appeared across different media over three decades.
The question of favoritism remains, as The Pokémon Company has faced criticism for consistently highlighting popular mascot Pokémon in merchandise and collaborations. A book dedicating equal space to all 1,025 Pokémon would be a massive tome, and the Deluxe Character Book instead balances comprehensive basic data with expanded coverage for selected creatures.
