Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show in Los Angeles

Rapper and mogul Jay-Z has been confirmed as the headliner of the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, set for Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Jay-Z to headline Super Bowl LXI halftime show in Los Angeles

Jay-Z will take the stage at the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, Apple Music announced during the halftime of Monday's Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game. The rapper and music mogul will headline the performance, which is scheduled for Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The announcement followed weeks of speculation. Puck News had reported that Jay-Z was selected over Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber for the coveted slot, and TMZ had reported that Harry Styles was among the frontrunners. Apple Music confirmed the decision on social media, writing that the "GOAT's out of the bag" and tagging Jay-Z in the post. The NFL and Apple Music made the news official during Monday Night Football, a move that followed reports that leaked the performance in the media the previous week.

Jay-Z's entertainment company, Roc Nation, has worked with the NFL and helped produce and select performers for the halftime show since 2019. That partnership has made the company a central force in shaping one of the most watched entertainment events in the United States each year, and the selection of Jay-Z continues that role.

The 56-year-old rapper is no stranger to the venue where he will perform. He wrapped up his Jay-Z 30 Tour with back-to-back shows at SoFi Stadium on Oct. 23 and 24. The four-city tour marked the 30th anniversary of his 1996 debut album, "Reasonable Doubt." Puck reported that three consecutive shows at Yankee Stadium in July grossed more than $42 million, according to OutKick.

In a statement, Jay-Z reflected on the milestone. "From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey," he said, adding that the moment capped thirty years of music, work and culture. The statement framed the performance as the latest chapter of a career that began with his debut album.

Jay-Z has won 25 Grammy Awards and was the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His last studio album, "4:44," was released in 2017. Although he has never performed at the Super Bowl himself, his wife, Beyonce, headlined the halftime show in 2013 in New Orleans. She returned to the Super Bowl stage in 2016, joining Coldplay and Bruno Mars in Santa Clara, California.

The Feb. 14, 2027, date places the show at the same Southern California venue where he recently closed his tour, linking the Super Bowl booking to the largest run of concerts of his recent career. OutKick Sport's Mark Harris contributed reporting on the announcement.
