Former NFL defensive end Marcellus Wiley was arrested on domestic battery charges over the Fourth of July weekend after his wife accused him of threatening to kill her during an altercation at a hotel in Orlando, Florida. The arrest affidavit, obtained by the New York Post, details the allegations made by Annemarie Wiley, who also starred on «Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.» She told police that the incident occurred in front of their seven-year-old daughter at the World Marriott, where the family was staying for a basketball tournament.
According to the affidavit, Annemarie Wiley reported that her husband stood over her on Friday morning and «used one finger to sternly and intentionally poke her in the cheek» while their daughter was present. She also alleged that he threatened to kill her during the confrontation. Officers arrived at the scene to find the couple’s children and others in the room. Annemarie Wiley told police she wanted her husband removed from the room due to the threat against her life and indicated her intention to divorce him.
Marcellus Wiley, 51, denied the allegations when speaking with law enforcement. He told officers there was no physical altercation at the hotel and disputed his wife’s claims of a history of past violence. He provided police with text messages between himself and his wife, which officers described as cordial. Following his arrest by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, Wiley was held without bond. He later posted on social media, stating, «I completely and unequivocally deny these allegations, and I’m certain the truth will prevail.» He added that because the matter is now legal, his priority is protecting his children, and he would speak freely when possible.
The arrest comes amid a broader backdrop of serious allegations against the former NFL star. A recent Rolling Stone article, published in April 2026, cited accusations of sexual assault by four women. Two of those women alleged that Wiley sexually assaulted them between 1995 and 1999, while he was a student at Columbia University. Another woman claimed that Wiley groomed her from the age of 13 while he was playing for the Buffalo Bills and later raped her when she turned 18 in Dallas, where he was playing for the Cowboys. «Marcellus Wiley raped me on my 18th birthday, after grooming me from the age of 13,» the victim wrote, adding that he referred to her as «little momma.» She also stated, «If Columbia had properly pursued the complaints… I would never have been groomed and raped.»
A fourth woman, a former production assistant at ESPN, alleged that Wiley deceived her into joining him in a hotel room for a working meeting in 2009 and then sexually assaulted her. «The assault was devastating to me, and I will live with the effects to this day,» she wrote in a court filing, according to Rolling Stone. Wiley has denied all of these allegations. On his podcast, «More To It with Marcellus Wiley,» he claimed to have evidence that would prove what he called «alleged misrepresentations.» He also previously dismissed the Columbia allegations as «B.S.»
Wiley was also previously sued by three women for allegedly raping them while at Columbia University. He has consistently denied those claims. The Rolling Stone article notes that two of the women who accused him of sexual assault came forward between 1995 and 1999. The allegations span his college years and his professional football career, which included stints with the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Wiley was selected 52nd overall in the 1997 NFL Draft out of Columbia University by the Buffalo Bills. He played four seasons with the Bills before earning his first and only Pro Bowl nod in 2001 with the San Diego Chargers, where he starred for three years. He also played for the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars before retiring after the 2006 season. After his playing career, Wiley worked as a broadcaster for ESPN and Fox Sports, where he gained recognition as a sports commentator and analyst.
The domestic battery case is ongoing, and Wiley is expected to appear in court at a later date.
