CMLL Expands U.S. Push With Las Vegas Debut and MyAEW Streaming Deal
Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre is bringing its historic Lucha Libre style to American audiences through a partnership with All Elite Wrestling, a first solo U.S. event in Las Vegas, and a new streaming home on MyAEW, as company figures outline ambitions for broader media recognition.
Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, the nearly century-old Mexican wrestling promotion, is accelerating its effort to win over American audiences, using a partnership with All Elite Wrestling, a first-ever solo event in Las Vegas, and a new streaming outlet to introduce its Lucha Libre style to viewers who have long struggled to find it.
Founded in 1933, CMLL has built its reputation on a sports-first presentation that differs from the character-driven storytelling common in U.S. wrestling. The company took a significant step by holding its first solo event in Las Vegas as part of Slam Fest during WrestleMania weekend, a card that featured Blue Panther, Ultimo Guerrero, Persephone, Tessa Blanchard, Místico, Hechicero, Templario and Angel de Oro, among others.
The Las Vegas showcase followed a partnership with AEW that has allowed CMLL stars to appear on AEW and Ring of Honor programming while maintaining their standing in Mexico. Místico, a generational figure in his home country, has become a familiar presence at those shows, where fans have been known to sing along to his entrance music, «Me Muero.» Persephone has also gained traction in AEW, winning the TBS Championship at All In.
For American viewers who want to watch CMLL at home, the company has added its events to MyAEW, a streaming platform designed to give fans access to programming they might not find elsewhere. CMLL's New Japan Pro-Wrestling Fantastica Mania Mexico 2026 was added to the schedule, along with several other shows, including the company's anniversary event on Sept. 18.
CMLL Mexican national champion Thunder Rosa said the streaming arrangement answers a question fans have asked for years. «A lot of people have been asking for a long time, how can they watch CMLL, right?» she told OutKick Dropkick. «And I think right now CMLL is at a point in where it's known globally.»
Thunder Rosa, who works for both companies, said the partnership gives her a direct answer for fans in the United States. «It excites me because as someone who works in both companies, now I can tell people, if you have now you can watch CMLL,» she said. «CMLL just in general has the best wrestling in the world.»
Miguel Castro, who handles multiple roles for CMLL and serves as the English-language voice of its broadcasts, said the biggest obstacle to growth in the U.S. is brand recognition rather than the quality of the product. «I believe that our talents' work speaks for itself,» Castro told OutKick Dropkick. «Anyone that enjoys wrestling, even if you like it by 5% compared to a fan, you will enjoy a CMLL show.»
Castro said CMLL's emphasis on sport over drama has helped it connect with AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He noted that the promotion operates with little to no advertising budget yet still sells out Arena México for its shows, crediting AEW with giving CMLL a platform to showcase its talent and build stars in the United States.
Looking ahead, Castro said success would mean substantially growing pay-per-view numbers on MyAEW and securing a media deal in the United States. He said he would prefer such a deal not be tied to Univision or Telemundo simply because CMLL is Mexican. «My main focus right now would be to have a media deal in the States,» he said. «That, for me, would be huge.»
Castro acknowledged that reaching that goal is unlikely in the near term, especially since formal conversations have not yet begun. He pointed to the company's recent start with Fox Sports in Mexico, which he said reaches about a million viewers each month, as evidence of the potential.
CMLL's next scheduled showcase is Fantastica Mania, a partnership with RevPro set for Oct. 17 and 18. Both shows are available for purchase at $14.99.
