Rockstar Debuts GTA 6 Launch Trailer Ahead of November 19 Release

Rockstar has released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, introducing a new song from the game's original score and offering a closer look at protagonists Jason and Lucia as the game nears its November 19 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Rockstar Games has released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, formally opening the final promotional stretch for a game arriving more than a decade after Grand Theft Auto 5. The trailer confirms a November 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and it was captured on PS5, with PlayStation marketing framing the video at both ends.

The clip leans on the relationship between the dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia, who speak openly about the pressures closing in on them. Jason appears with long hair for much of the trailer and describes the obstacles he has faced since a less-than-glamorous military departure. Lucia is shown wearing a monitoring anklet during an intimate shower scene and at one point asks, «Are we gonna be OK» as the story moves through a storm of crime.

Rockstar also used the trailer to announce the debut of «Flower in a Hurricane,» a track from the game's original score composed by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The song will appear on the official GTA 6 soundtrack album, giving the launch campaign a musical anchor alongside its narrative beats.

Action sequences in the trailer repeatedly return to helicopters. One chopper crashes behind an assault rifle-toting Jason, Lucia rides another through the streets with a grenade launcher in hand, and a third sequence shows a helicopter carrying a chained load of presumably stolen cargo through the city like a wrecking ball, shattering a row of windows on another building. A short-haired Jason then emerges from a helicopter, and the scene cuts to him and Lucia jumping off a roof into what appears to be a hotel pool.

The video description frames the stakes directly: «Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.»

Fan response was immediate and enormous, with millions of viewers converging on Rockstar's social accounts. The trailer passed 1 million views on YouTube in roughly half an hour, according to metrics that were quickly overwhelmed by traffic. Comments reflected disbelief that a launch trailer had finally arrived, with one top comment reading, «I thought I would never live this moment,» and another declaring, «We are really at the finish line!!!»

The trailer also offered a reminder of why the game has taken so long to complete. Among its detailed systems is a realistic sweat model that makes Jason and Lucia perspire based on how hard they dance, one of the small technical touches Rockstar has built into the world of Leonida.

With the launch trailer now public, attention turns to the November 19 release date and the final weeks of anticipation for a title that has dominated gaming conversation since its first reveal.
